Penneys/Primark
As a result of the Chip and Pin directive, Penneys/Primark needed to update their EPOS Systems to allow online card processing and verification. To do this would have required an expensive EPOS upgrade. DataLink Communications provided a serial(RS232) to Ethernet converter which was able to take advantage of their installed base of Power Over Ethernet(PoE)Switches. These units not only convert from Serial(RS232) to Ethernet but also power themselves and provide power for their Pin Entry Device(PED) without the need for them to provide additional power socket outlet at each pay station and the associated costs.
