Heartbeat Ensures Reliable Communications
In case of a power failure or loss of the Ethernet connection on the client or server, the Vlinx Serial
Server automatically reconnects the TCP data connection. Once a client - either Virtual COM or ESP901
Client - establishes a connection with a server, it starts the "Heartbeat" sequence, with the server
sending signal to the client every five seconds. If the client does not hear from the server it sends a
signal to the server until communication is established.
The Heartbeat feature works with virtual COM and TCP direct IP connections.
Intuitive Management Software
The provided Vlinx software allows simple access to the Serial Server menu settings. Telnet and Console
mode may also be used to configure the server.
Once the new ESP901 or ESP902 is connected to the LAN, just open the management software and click on the
Search button. It will instantly display the Serial Server in the window. This is just one example of the
many advanced features integrated into the Vlinx Serial Server.
